To enable the administration of a BBj Services installation from an installed BBj Enterprise Manager, the server must be registered with the BBj Enterprise Manager. To register a server do the following:
Right-click on the "BBj Enterprise" node in left-hand pane of the Enterprise Manager.
Select "Register Server" from the pop-up menu.
When prompted, type in the name of the machine where the server is running and the port number that the Admin Server is running on (the default is 2002 and will be filled in automatically).
Once a server is registered, it will show up in the list of registered each time the Enterprise Manager is used.
Stopping BBj Services that are running on a local or remote machine is most often done through the BBj Enterprise Manager unless BBj Services is running as a service on a Microsoft Windows NT/2000/XP machine. However, it is important to note that BBj Services cannot be started from within the BBj Enterprise Manager. BBj Services must be started from the actual machine that is to be running it.
Please see Stopping BBj Services in the BBj Services section of the documentation for information about stopping BBj Services in a non-GUI terminal environment.
To stop BBj Services using the BBj Enterprise Manager, do the following:
Select the desired machine name from the registered servers in the BBj Enterprise Manager.
Connect to the server by following the instructions in the "Logging On To A BBj Services Server for Administration" section below.
Right-click on the server name and select "Shutdown" from the pop-up menu.
To connect and log on to a machine running BBj Services so that it can be administered:
Expand (or double-click on) the node for the appropriate registered server.
When prompted, enter the user name and password for the user to connect. Note that users other than "admin" will only see databases that they have been granted administrative access for and only that users name will appear under the "Users" node, unless add or delete permissions have been granted on user accounts.
